Live Captioning:
What is Speech to Text Reporting or CART?
In short, this service converts what a speaker says during an event, webinar or in another setting, to accurate text readable by those virtually or physically attending an event. A human stenographer based at your event or remotely will provide real time accurate captions streamed live during your event for those in attendance to follow.
This allows the information to be shared with all in attendance, including deaf or hard of hearing users and attendees who do not speak English as a first language.
There are different services which are commonly called captioning but all of these offer inferior levels of accuracy. Examples are respeakers, AI and captions using voice recognition. Despite advances in technology though, the quality of captions delivered by these means cannot be compared to a human captioner. During an event, whether onsite or remote, there are many situations where a machine falls short in providing accurate captions. Things like: multiple speakers, background noise, false starts, punctuation and numbers, speaker labels and sound effects which add to understanding (eg. laughter).
For those relying on captions, inaccuracies that come with these services are frustrating and cause the meaning of information being delivered to be completely lost.
What about our services? We understand that the quality of captions during an event needs to be impeccable. This is why we book only the best human captioners who guarantee accuracy levels of 98% and higher.
